As an EFT and hypnosis practitioner, people often ask me if they can be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is an altered state. You already go in and out of altered states, without even trying, throughout your day.
Over eaters are especially good at it. If you have ever eaten a bag of chips, cookies, or candy, and hardly noticed, you were certainly in an altered state.
You may have experienced a light trance while driving and missing your exit, or surfing the internet and losing track of time, or watching TV and not hearing your spouse tell you something.
If you have the ability to be intently focused on something, at the exclusion of other things, you can be hypnotized.
Hypnosis is one of the most useful and most misunderstood of the healing arts.
While the impression given in stage hypnosis shows and in the movies is entertaining, it needs an update.
In everyday life, people can intentionally experience hypnosis as a very pleasant calm, and are delighted when they realize how quickly they feel better.
By focusing attention, you can choose to go into a light or deep trance.
A trance is defined as a state of heightened mental alertness and diminished physical movement. It is also an opportunity for you to be susceptibility to a desired suggestion.
You can change your mind and your behavior in either a light or a deep trance. (I have very successful clients who snore within minutes and I have others who pop open their eyes and want to talk.)
You have experiences unique to you. To permanently change unwanted patterns, you want to work with someone who has the experience and flexibility to work with your particular experiences, and your learning styles.
The brain is like the side of a mountain. Yours has a certain terrain and you have certain ski runs you have used over and over again. You may have decided you would like to use a new run. Hypnosis is the perfect venue for creating that new mental trail.
You change your brain with your thoughts. Obviously it is to your benefit to mentally practice. Having your hypnosis designed and written just for you can help you quickly create many positive changes in your life.
You may even experience side effects like sleeping better, or suddenly lose that kink in your neck.
So yes, you can be hypnotized and hopefully, you now know why it would be a good idea to use your ability to be hypnotized for your own benefit.
